My Big Boy

He sits in a booster seat now, and has been for awhile.

He knows his sister doesn't have to sit in one, so sometimes he gets upset and wants to sit in a regular chair.

He just pulls himself up there and sits so calmly waiting for me to serve him his meal there. ha!

Usually, I scoop him up and move him over to his booster, while he kicks and screams.

But, occasionally, I'll just let him feel like a "big" boy.

Just Reading The Paper

This was the morning Daddy gave her leftover lasagna for breakfast... well, more like brunch, but still, lasagna? Oh well, I'll let him slide this time.

And if you can tell by the pictures below, she has made the move to the table. She now pretty much exclusively sits in her booster seat. She loves being at the table with us.

So, Mark got her all set up with her lasagna (for breakfast) and mandarin oranges (of which she could eat for every meal for the rest of her life and be totally content), left the room to grab something, and when he came back, here she was just reading a part of the newspaper.

The paper was sitting on the table and she just, you know, wanted to have a nice read during her breakfast.

Seriously, should I pour you some coffee, Kate?

No wait, coffee and lasagna don't go very well together.

The Girl Can EAT!

Kate has started eating mostly the same dinner we eat... and boy, is that a treat! When I say "treat", what I really mean is a big chore. Yea, I love to see what she likes (which is almost everything) and doesn't like (which I think is oh, peas- that's it!) and how cute she is when she eats, but the mess stinks!

The other night she ate some Mexican casserole (it was even a little spicy) and she had ground beef stuck in her ear.

Last night, she had some chicken and rice from the crockpot and it was coming out of her belly button when I got her out of the highchair. Speaking of, DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED on the high chair. And the sweeping, and the mopping, and the scrub downs in the tub when it's all over...

As I type, she is cramming fistfuls of leftovers into her mouth and then tossing some off the side of the highchair to plummet to its death on the kitchen floor, which I mop daily now.

It's tough work, I tell ya. But, would I trade it for anything in the world? No way.

Defeated

Kate has started eating Gerber's Biter Biscuits.... my, oh my, what a treat. She loves them, and I mean loves with a capital 'L". She spends the whole time eating them saying, "ahhhh, oohhhh, arrrrr" as brown yucky drooly goo runs out of her mouth (that's a nice picture, huh?). It's just a mess. Such a mess that I take off her clothes before she eats one. In the end, the Biter Biscuit wins. The girl gave it all she had, but she is defeated... it's in her hair, in her eyebrows, in between her fingers, around her ear, up her nose. And the bib, well, don't even get me started on that mess!

Messy, Messy

Notice the "spikiness in her hair?" Yea, that's Biter Biscuit goo.

The Biter Biscuit Won

But, doesn't she look SO happy to have eaten it?

In the bath she goes...

Note: Please ignore the kitchen knives sitting right next to the sink where she is bathing. I just realized that. Guess we'll move those next time. Mom of the Year Award, right?
