Buddies

DSC_1163

Although they can fight like crazy, they really are best buds.

DSC_1052

They can make each other belly laugh like no one else.

DSC_1196

They love to play together in their rooms.  They are usually really good at sharing.

DSC_1146

They tell knock knock jokes to each other.

DSC_1083

Jack yells for "Sissy" a hundred times a day.

Kate teaches Jack to sing the alphabet and how to say long sentences word by word.

When we drop Kate off at preschool, Jack immediately says in his sad voice, "miss Kate".

They hold hands when we walk through a parking lot.

When Jack gets in trouble, he runs to Kate.

Kate is soooo protective of him.  She told me that a little girl at the Y told her that "her brother talked funny" (he is still working on speaking in full sentences, so his speech is kinda choppy... so cute, though).  She told her, "No he doesn't" and apparently was just appalled that someone would say that.

They can do some serious arguing, though. Jack often destroys stuff Kate is working on and it understandably drives her crazy!

Most of the time, though, they really have a lot of fun together.

Even though we weren't quite ready to have another baby when I found out I was pregnant with Jack, I love that they are pretty close in age. I love that they are buddies.  I hope they always are.

Buddies

These two are becoming pretty good buddies.

They make each other belly laugh.

Jack offers more hugs and kisses to Kate, instead of hits and pinches.

Jack found this pacifier in a drawer and wanted to be a "be-be". He has never used a pacifier and doesn't even know how to use it! He just chewed on it the whole time. He's my little thumb sucker.

Kate was crying the other day and Jack rubbed her back to make her feel better.

Kate likes to "teach" Jack gymnastics.  He listens to her and puts his arms in the air when she tells him to, lays down just like she says, and is working his way up to a pretty mean bridge.  haha!

photo 3.JPG

You can often hear Jack yelling, "Keee, Keee, Keee" until she answers him.

They worked together to take their laundry baskets back to their rooms without arguing.  It's the little things we celebrate around here.

Poor Jack... we were leaving to go to The Magic House. The kids were running along the sidewalk and I said, "Watch one of them fall and get hurt right as we are leaving." As soon as those words came out of my mouth, Jack is on the ground crying. He had fallen on the sidewalk and when he stood up, he was covered in this yucky tree junk. Kate was so sweet to him. We had to take him in and change his clothes, console him, and THEN load back up for The Magic House. Oh, the life!

They laugh and giggle all through bath time.  Jack stands up and pees on Kate in the tub EVERY time.  It's so gross, and for some reason, she doesn't even care.  I HAVE to get him to stop doing that.  It's hard not to laugh when he does it, though.

Jack still gets frustrated with Kate for always picking him up, pulling him around, and doing things for him.  Kate gets frustrated when Jack wants to do what she is doing, or when he colors all over a picture she was working on, or when he doesn't help her clean up.

But, overall, they are becoming little friends and it's fun to watch.

Weighing In: 18 months

mh19

Jack's 18 month stats (technically, he's almost 19 months, but we just had his 18 month check-up):

Height: 33 inches
Weight: 26 lbs. 10 oz.
Head circumference: 18.9 inches

He's right above the 50th percentile line. He's a healthy, growing boy.

At his visit, our pediatrician asked me, "So, what kinds of things can Jack do?". Without hesitating (or giving me a chance to answer), Kate pipes up, "He hits, bites, pinches, pulls hair..." haha!!

We love our crazy boy!

Big Sister, Little Brother

IMG_6125.jpg

On Halloween, we were able to snag some cute pictures of the kids together.

IMG_6114.jpg

You'll have to ignore our half-stained deck.

IMG_6109.jpg

It's a good thing Jack is so laid back. Any other kid would never put up with all Kate puts him through. Poor guy.

But, she's sweet, too.

IMG_6103.jpg

And he pretty much thinks she hung the moon.

IMG_6096.jpg

IMG_6094.jpg

She is usually the only one that can make him laugh.

He's a tough one to crack, but the minute Kate does something funny, he's belly laughing!

IMG_6085.jpg

I can't wait until they can REALLY play together instead of Kate pulling poor Jack around the house and bossing him around. Ha!

My Little Lennie

IMG_0554

You all know the story Of Mice and Men, right? Remember Lennie and his love of soft things? Remember how things start off so nice with Lennie being all gentle and then he starts to "love a little too much" and things go horribly awry?

That's Kate. I've nicknamed her Lennie.

IMG_0558

It starts out really sweet. Kate talks softly, rubbing his little hand. Then, the rubbing turns to squeezing and soon, she's in his face, pinching his cheeks and gritting her teeth. It's like she just can't stand how much she loves him. It's pretty crazy.

Seriously, Jack is going to be one tough cookie.

No lie, the kid flinches when she comes around.
