HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

I'm late on this and I have no picture to go with it, but HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the great dads and grandpas in our lives: Dad/Papa, Marlin/Paps, Gampy, and Grandpa/Poppy. You guys are great!! Hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day!

Sorry for the laziness when it comes to blogging lately. I'll get better when summer school is over, I promise.

I have just been absolutely EXHAUSTED!! I have four days of summer school left, and I couldn't be happier! Then, we are headed to Oklahoma for a wedding this weekend.

I also started selling Lia Sophia jewelry, so I have been so busy doinCheck Spellingg parties for that. It is a huge success, though!! I'm having a lot of fun and making a bunch of extra money.

I will, I WILL, I WILL get better at posting more often. Kate is growing up more and more every day and I need to make sure I document it on here. She is hilarious and keeps us on our toes, to say the least. We seriously have no idea how we will handle TWO! It's terrifying and I think we are still living in denial for a little while longer. ha!

Not Much to Say

photo.jpg

There's not too much going on right now (in case you were wondering why I haven't posted since our big news!).

I'm teaching summer school and am working on my new business with Lia Sophia. I have four parties within the next two weeks, so I am busy with all of that.

Mark is working and taking pictures for people on the weekends.

We are pretty boring right now! But, I thought I would at least post a quick picture of our cutie!

Big News

Kate has some news that she wants to share with everyone!

photo.jpg

For real. It was a big shocker to us... total surprise! We are still trying to wrap our brains around it, but we are excited.

This is how Kate really feels about it, though.

photo.jpg

We keep asking her "Do you want to be a big sister?" and she shakes her head NO. Then, we ask her something else and she nods her head YES. Like she knows what we are getting at!

Here's all the scoop. I had a little suspicion that something might be going on for about a week. Last Sunday, I told Mark, "I really think I might be pregnant", but I thought it was probably like all the other times I "thought" I was pregnant. I wanted to ease my mind, nonetheless.

So, we were headed to a graduation party and stopped at the Dollar Tree to get a card. I picked up a couple pregnancy tests (sidenote: They are $1 each! I SWEAR they work. That's how I found out I was pregnant with Kate and now this time, too.).

Kate was snoozing in the car and we knew it would be the only nap she would get that day, so I had Mark swing us by the house so I could run in and "ease my mind". We were so sure it was probably nothing that he just stayed in the car to let Kate sleep.

Um, my mind wasn't eased. Shock and terror are two words that come to my mind when I think of what went through my head when that second pink line showed up plain as day.

Needless to say, Mark brought Kate in the house soon after I went running out to the garage with a look of panic on my face. I am not lying when I say that he asked me no less than five times, "You're kidding, right?"

We just sat there and stared at each other for a good five minutes. Then, we realized, "hey, we can do this". And our attitudes changed a bit... more excitement set in.

I called my doctor early Monday morning and they sent me for bloodwork. When I went to get that done, there was a lady from our old church working there and she said, "You guys are doing this again, huh? How old is your little one?" ha!

My doctor is suspecting that I am about 5 weeks judging by my hcg levels. So, that would put us at the end of January, beginning of February.

I don't want our future child to read this and feel like we weren't happy, but you know, when you get a BIG surprise like that, it just takes a little adjusting.

And that is what we are doing. Adjusting to the idea of having two YOUNG kids. Adjusting to the idea that I may get sick like I did with Kate and still have to take care of a toddler (that is the hardest for me to swallow!). Adjusting to the idea that we need a bigger car. Adjusting to the idea that we just may have two in diapers. Adjusting to the idea that my insurance is changing and I won't be having this baby for $20 like I did Kate. Try $3,000. Adjusting to the idea that the office needs to be moved downstairs, again. You know, adjusting. In a good way, though.

We DO feel very blessed, though, and know that God's hand is all over this.

So, here we go again...

Weighing In... Month 18

DSC_3471

We went to the doctor yesterday for Kate's 18 month appointment. She is a healthy, happy, growing girl. Here are the stats:

Height.......... 33.7" 93rd percentile
Weight......... 28 lbs. 8 oz. 92nd percentile
Head circumference......... 19" 89th percentile

She was such a good little girl at her appointment. The nurse that she is deathly afraid of was not there that day, so she did great with all of the measurements, etc. Normally, she cries huge tears during that part because she is so afraid of the nurse.

Kate is enamored with her doctor. She lets him listen to her heart, leans her ears towards him when he needs to look in them, and opens her mouth when he needs to shine his little light in there. She follows his every command and he is so impressed with her. He said that part is normally rough because kids squirm around and aren't very cooperative. Kate just stares at him the whole time!

It was a good visit and she doesn't have to go back until she is TWO!!! Which seems far away, but I know it'll be here before we know it!

Memorial Day Parade

We've been watching the Memorial Day Parade here in Union from our friends' Megan and Greg's front porch for the past three years now (I think I have apostrophes all in the wrong place in that sentence!).

The first year we watched from their house, I was pregnant and brought McDonald's breakfast with me. :)

Last year, Kate had chubby cheeks and very little hair. But, she was awfully cute holding her little flag and chewing on her stroller strap.

This year, our "baby" girl was an all out parade expert!! She knew just what to do . At one point, I looked at her and she had a sucker in her mouth, a balloon in one hand, and was waving her flag with the other hand.

She danced and clapped and collected candy.

The crazy girl had sucker juice running all down her chin!!

All of a sudden, it started POURING. Lucky for us, Megan and Greg are right on the parade route, so we could still watch from the porch.

I love that picture. All the conversation and community that's going on. And, you gotta love Ryan with a video camera. And the fact that Greg is the only one who knows a picture was being taken. And Megan and Greg's cute house.

I think she was waiting for the "ok" to go back out to the sidewalk.

And this... well, this will basically sum up Kate Rileigh Roskowske for you right here. After the rain stopped, Mark took her back out to the sidewalk and she knelt down and stinkin' drank water from a PUDDLE IN THE ROAD! Like a dog!

This was the aftermath.

I told ya she was crazy!

It's Been Awhile!

I haven't blogged in forever, it seems like. It's been a crazy couple of weeks.

Mark and I were in a wedding together, which seemed to take a lot of our time. It was a blast, though.

Kate came to the rehearsal and the wedding (we've NEVER taken her to a wedding and may never again. ha!).

She was fine at the rehearsal... she and the ring bearer fell in love.

The wedding was a different story. My parents were invited to the wedding, so they brought her. I knew the minute she saw us, she would probably freak out. And, that she did. Luckily, it was before the wedding, so we kinda knew how she would react. I think she spent most of the wedding watching through a window. :)

She had a ball at the reception (despite the fact that she broke a plate right after the best man gave his speech, when the room was silent!). Kate is a dancin' fool! She was boogy-ing on the dance floor long before the lights even dimmed.

It was a late night for her, but well worth it. She was asleep after about 10 minutes on the car ride home.

Other than the wedding, I'm not really sure what else has been occupying our time. It just seems that the weeks are always busy and they just fly by. For some good news, though... SCHOOL'S OUT!!! I am teaching summer school from June 1-26, though. It's not terrible, although it does kinda cut into your summer a bit. The money is too good to pass up right now, though.

That's pretty much all that is going on in our world right now. I'll blog more often, I swear.
