Kate had her five year check up yesterday. She has been dreading this for over a year because she knew it was when she would get shots. Poor girl. After Jack would have to get shots at his appointments, she would ask when she had to get them and I would say, "when you are five". She would tell me, "I don't ever want to turn five". I told her that she couldn't go to school unless she got shots, so she said she would "never go to school".
Well, the day came and she was MUCH braver than I thought she would be. It ended up only being two shots in her arm (we were thinking it would be three or four in her leg), so that was encouraging to her. The minute the nurse rubbed the alcohol swab on her arm, though, she started crying. Two screams, a nice bright colored band-aid and a treasure box goodie later, she told me it "wasn't as bad as she thought it would be". Phew! Glad to have that behind us.
She is growing perfectly and is almost off the charts (97th percentile) for height. Hmmmm... wonder where she gets that from?? She is the tallest in her preschool class and could probably easily pass for a six year old.
Seems like height isn't the only thing Mark has passed onto her. She has not done too well on her vision tests the past couple of visits and it looks like she'll be needing glasses in the near future.
All in all, we have a super healthy, super tall, and super brave (but semi-blind) girl on our hands.
