October Happenings

Now that it's almost the end of November (how did THAT happen???), let's go back and recap October.

The month of October is always CRAZY for us!  We cram in as much fall fun as we can.

Added to the fun and craziness of October this year, we went to a friend's wedding in Louisville one weekend and Mark and I went to San Francisco for almost a week (he attended a conference there for work and I got to tag along!).

I was thankful for anything we were able to squeeze in!

We went apple picking at Eckert's.

On the way home from Louisville, we took a little detour to go to this amazing park Brad told us about.

While Kate and I were enjoying the scenery and live music, Mark was taking pictures of Jack by a fountain and he walked into it as it shot up. Only Jack.

Props to you if you looked through all those pictures. Some people do weekly photo dumps... mine are monthly. :)

SIX!

Untitled

Our beautiful girl is six today!! Can't believe it...

I was looking through pictures from her birthday party last year.  She looked so little!!

DSC_0983
(Last year's rock star party... she asked for that party again this year, so that's what we are doing!)

She has really started looking "all grown up" this year.  She is the tallest in her class and wears that title proudly. :)

Untitled

We are so in love with this girl.  She can make us crazy sometimes, but usually, she is just a pleasant little human being to be around.  She is FUNNY!!  She says the craziest things, has the best timing, and keeps us laughing.

Untitled

She is strong willed and stubborn.  She is bound and determined to learn how to tie her shoes and ride her bike without training wheels.

Untitled

She is such an eager little learner.  She knows all of her kindergarten sight words and loves discovering that there are books she can actually read!!

Untitled

She is such a little mama.  She loves babies, toddlers, and animals.  Basically, if you are smaller than her, she will try to pick you up.

Untitled

She loves to be the "teacher".  Her kindergarten teacher gives her a lot of the extra papers from class.  Kate brings them home and puts them to good use.  Her closet door is covered in sight words, her alphabet chart is above her desk, and her pointer is always close by.  If she is in her room by herself, you can hear her "teaching". "A, a, apple.  B, b, ball... Now, let's do our Good Morning song".  ha!

Untitled

She loves singing, dancing, and doing gymnastics.  If she had a microphone and a mirror, she could probably stay busy for three days.

Untitled

She loves creating, writing, painting, coloring, and drawing.

Untitled

Untitled

She loves watching Full House and Duck Dynasty.  For awhile there, if she got in trouble, her consequence was getting Duck Dynasty taken away. Ha!

Untitled

Like I said, she is SO funny!!

Some little Kate sayings from recently:

One day, she found a rock at school. "I found this rock at school today.  Can I put it in my collection?"  I said, "Oh, I didn't know you had a rock collection."  She said, "Well, this is my first one, but..."

Untitled

On a recent trip to Indianapolis with Gran and Nanny, the kids got a little flashlight/compass thing at the Children's Museum.  In the car, Kate said, "Go south.  I have a thermos." (instead of compass... ha!)

Untitled

She has a little guy in her class that she is pretty fond of. One day he wasn't there and she said she thought to herself, "Where is that excited freckly guy?"

Untitled

One day, I told her, "You need a nap."  She said, "Oh, I'm too festive for a nap."

Untitled

Awhile back, she told me, "There are three kinds of hot.  Hot that means cute, spicy, and heat hot."

Untitled

We love you, our beautiful girl!

Untitled

She doesn't know this yet, but after school, we are taking her straight to American Girl to get her first American Girl doll!! And she has talked about possibly getting her ears pierced. ?? We shall see.

She also requested dinner out with just Mommy and Daddy. :)

Halloween 2013... Rockstar Style

Despite the super yucky weather, we had a fun Halloween!

 The kids were rock stars.

Jack took his role very seriously.  He tried on his costume every chance he could get before Halloween.  He wore a pretend lip ring and rocked out with his guitar on command. (Kate is having another rock star party this year, and he wants to wear his costume for that, too!)

Kate pulled off the sassy rock star well. :) Poor girl wore these awesome Twinkle Toe slippers and her feet were soaked by the end of the night.

We were their bouncers for the night. Ha!

The kids visited Gran and Nanny while it poured down raining.

Mimi and Papa jumped on the Security train, too.  We don't look very mean, do we?

Since it rained that night and there weren't as many trick or treaters as usual, people gave the kids a TON of candy. It was nuts!!

A fun time was had by all. :)
