Have I Ever Mentioned How Much I Love This Kid?

Oh my, how I love my baby boy! Not so much a baby anymore.  In fact, in these pictures, he looks like a little man.

He has his "fake smile" on in these pictures. His "real smile" shows more of his cute little teeth that stick out a little because he is a die hard thumb sucker. His sweet blue eyes don't squint as much when he does his "real smile". Either way, though, he MELTS me.

He is total trouble, too. Don't give him ANYTHING to drink in the car because he will just pour it out all over. Oh, and don't think you are getting all smart and putting a tight lid on it, because you know, he could "NEVER" get that off! Yeah right. He rips the lid off and then dumps it all over the car.

And don't think that you can just put him in big boy underwear or let him run around naked in hopes of him getting closer to being potty trained. He will just pee all over the house, yelling "pee!" after he does, and leading me to the spot.

Untitled

Oh, and don't think you can just hand him a piece of sidewalk chalk to draw a masterpiece. He will eat the chalk. Every time. When you tell him not to eat it, he'll just lick it instead.

Untitled

And don't ever tell him that he can't have any milk until dinner, because that will cause an all out temper tantrum. On the floor, kicking, screaming, temper tantrum. Over milk. Yeah, I'm serious.

Untitled

Oh yeah, and grocery shopping?? He thinks it's really fun to take things out of the cart while we are shopping and throw them out into the aisle. That is unless he's using his teeth to try and rip open a box of Wheat Thins while I am looking at the frozen vegetables.

And, honestly, he can kinda be a bully to younger kids. He has bopped babies over the head, pushed down other toddlers, taken toys from other kids making them cry... we're working on it.

Untitled

But, you know what else?

He says "thank you" unprompted (which sounds more like "teenk eee", but we know what he means).

photo 2.JPG

He kisses Baby Ruckus and rubs his head.

Untitled

He hugs his sissy and says his version of "sorry" after he does something mean.

photo 4.JPG

He gives the best hugs and kisses.

Untitled

He uses his hand to sweep crumbs from the table into his other hand and then takes them to the trash can.

Untitled

He sings along to Barney.

Untitled

He sucks his thumb and carries his lovie around when he's sleepy.

photo 4.JPG

He says "hi" and "bye" to people at the grocery store.

photo 1.JPG

He waves to cars passing by.

photo.JPG

His feet look stinking adorable in little flip flops.

Untitled

His laugh can make time stand still.

He closes his eyes to pray. He names members of his family with his eyes still closed, along with some "Jack speak" mixed in, then throws his hands up and says "Men! (Amen!)

photo 5.JPG

He's a little snuggler.

He puts his hands in his pockets like a little man.

He is HILARIOUS and is always making us laugh.

And, he loves his Mommy, Daddy, and sister like crazy.

The feeling is mutual, buddy.

Kate's Recital

At the beginning of this month, Kate had her recital.  She has been taking pre-acrobatics since the fall.  She has really learned a lot and really likes it!!

Her recital was fun... lots of dancing and gymnastics.  I have a feeling hip hop dance classes are in her future.

Hair curled, makeup on, all ready to go!

That's our girl to the (your) left of the little boy! She did a GREAT job! Mimi, Gran, Nanny, and Marlin all came out to see her. (I'll post the video soon.)

After the show, I went backstage to pick her up and she was soooooo excited, smiling ear to ear.

Then, we walked off stage and Jack came up to her with a bouquet of flowers, she saw everyone there waiting for her, and she just burst into tears. Like full on, mascara running, big GIANT tears. I think she was overwhelmed by the whole thing. She kept telling me they were happy tears (but let me tell you, she didn't look happy).

(On the drive home, she told us it was because Jack brought her flowers and she thought it was so nice, that she cried.)

After the recital, we went outside the theater to take some pictures. I did my best to clean up her mascara crying disaster, but oh well.

Oh my goodness, I love my two babies.

These next two make me laugh so much. Jack was sitting a ways behind Kate on a rock, and Mark was trying to take a picture of Kate. He tells Kate, "Smile" and Jack, of course responds accordingly, popping his head out and smiling.

Everyone came back to our house for cake and ice cream.

And this little guy here... he did AMAZING during the hour long recital. He loved watching the dancers and only screamed once during the second to last routine. ha! I whispered in his ear that if he screams again, he would have to leave, so he let out this teeny tiny "ahhhh". He's nuts.

Our Sassy Girl

These pictures were taken the day of Kate's recital rehearsal.  If you pull out a camera, this is pretty much what happens.
