Jack is FOUR!

Our little buddy is four today.  What am amazing little man he is!

I've said it before, but I could seriously just watch Jack all day long.  He is energetic, funny, and soft hearted. He is independent and likes to do things his way.  He is diligent and determined. Whatever he is doing, he gives it his all, whether it's working puzzles or practicing his lasso with a rope.

He's all boy.  He growls, makes superhero voices,  likes to hammer things, loves potty words, dinosaurs, and Legos... oh, and he makes a mess wherever he goes.

He has the best little laugh.  He still sucks his thumb whenever he is tired.  He is a little homebody.  He loves nothing more than to hang out in his jammies all day.  He is a mama's boy.  He loves to snuggle with me and will say, "I love you soooo much, Mommy".  He loves his Daddy madly.  Daddy is the only one who plays superheroes the "right" way (according to Jack).  Even though Jack and Kate annoy each other and argue, they usually have the best time together.

A boy is pure magic.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE having a daughter, but there is just something special about a little boy.  Watching Jack grow up and learn new things is such a blessing.  We just love our little Jack Man!  Happy birthday, buddy!

Here are some Jack sayings and funny moments:

He used to say "so, so" ALL the time.  He dropped it a few months ago, and we kinda miss it.   It was so sweet the way he used to say it.  "You so so nice, Mommy."  "This so so pretty?"  He would also say it in ways that didn't make much sense like in this little conversation as we were walking into a store a few months ago:
Jack: Part of my wiener hurts.
Mommy: Why?
Jack: 'Cause I wear too much pants.
Mommy:  Uhhhh, how many pairs of pants do you have on?
Jack: So so one.
Alrighty then.

About six months ago, we were all in the car together.  Jack was trying to tell a story and his words kept getting all jumbled up.  Sometimes, I think his brain works faster than his voice. He was stumbling over his words when he finally gave up and said, "Me no good sayer."  We quickly tried to convince him, "You're a GREAT sayer!" Poor little guy.  (By using the word "sayer", we aren't very good "sayers" either.)

On the flip side, he pronounced a word really well one day and proudly said, "I know my words now!"

I took him to The Magic House one day while Kate was in school.  I told him he could lead the way and I would follow him.  He took my hand and said, "Welcome I taking you here."  (Jack speak for, "You're welcome for leading you around The Magic House)

The dryer buzzed when the laundry was done and Jack yelled, "Mommy, the laundry is calling you!"

One day, Jack put his pants on his head and shouted, "Genius!"

Mimi is always telling him to stop growing up.  He says, "God making me grow." He also told me not too long ago that God made him silly.

Jack was out shopping with me and had to use the restroom.  I asked the lady where the restroom was. Jack gave me a puzzled look and said, "I not need to rest!!"

He says "bwana" for banana.

One morning, he was eating yogurt.  He was already dressed and we needed to go somewhere.  I knew he would probably drip yogurt down his shirt, so I put a bib on him (he hadn't worn a bib in about a year... ha!).  He said, "Uhhh, I not fine with that."

He's a fierce thumb sucker.  If he's tired or bored, the thumb is in his mouth.  One day while we were walking through the parking lot to pick up Kate from school, I grabbed his hand.  He switched sides so I could hold his other hand because he said that was his "thumb sucking hand", and popped his thumb in his mouth.

He is so goofy.  While we were having a picnic this fall, he grabbed a big stick, stuck it on the top of his head and said, "Look! I a deer!"

When we play games with dice, he shakes the dice and says, "Mama need new shoes!".

He slithered off our bed head first, falling to the ground.  He jumped up and said, "That a circus!".

He loves to get into character.  When he wears his Transformer costume, he's constantly falling to the ground "transforming".  When he wears his Buzz Lightyear wings, he's running through the house saying, "Buzz Lightyear... to the re-cue!" When he puts on his Batman cape, he insists we call him Batman. I bought him a Santa shirt to wear for Christmas.  He put it on and immediately deepened his voice, saying "ho ho ho!".

Mark was leading Jack by the hand through a parking lot and Jack said, "You my reindeer!".

He told Papa he's the "goodest fixer in the whole wide world".

I caught him sitting with his eyes closed one time and I asked him what he was doing.  He said, "I imagining.".

After falling down a million times one evening (the kid plays rough), he came to Mark and me and said, "I have lot of hurts!".

He says the cutest little prayers.  On Christmas Eve, he broke out in spontaneous prayer at the dinner table while we were all eating. Haha! His nighttime prayers are usually the same every time: "Dear God, make all my dreams happy dreams.  (long pause)  I love you, God. (long pause).  So much that I can't believe it. Amen."   Precious.

He sings Bye Bye, Miss American Pie at the top of his lungs.  He does a lot of things at the top of his lungs.

He tells me I'm boo-full (beautiful).

When talking about going to preschool next year, he said, "I no want to go to preschool.  It's too busy."  He loves nothing more than to just be home with me.  He said he would miss me when he goes to preschool.

He has an imaginary friend that shows up every now and then.  His name is Tree Pokey.  I h

ave no idea where this came from.

Two of the funniest things he says are "That a little... freaky!" (in a high pitched voice)  and "Awwwkward!"  He knows people think this is funny, so sometimes he will just say, "Freaky! Awkward! Freaky! Awkward!".  Crazy kid.

Jack is a fun kid to love.  He's easy to love.  He's so darn cute and lights up every day with his enthusiasm for life.  I can't wait to see the kind of person he grows up to be.  But for now, he can just stay four.

Christmas Morning in 1,001 Photos

Ok, not quite 1,001, but it may come close.

Actually, let me back up to Christmas Eve.

We went to church in the afternoon and then had our traditional chili dinner.  The kids opened up their jammies, and then Papa read The Night Before Christmas. Once the kiddos were in their beds, they went right to sleep... they were so excited.

About 10 minutes before we had to leave for church, Jack fell against the granite counter top and clobbered his head.  Poor little guy.

Then, we tried to snap a picture on the front porch, but Jack was crying because he was cold (even though he was refusing to put on his coat).

On Christmas morning, the kids came in our room around 7:00.  We held them off until about 7:30.  Then, Mark read the Christmas story from the Bible and after that, they were ready to go!

Daddy and Papa went downstairs to see if Santa came while the kiddos waited upstairs.

Then, they were off!

This was after they exchanged their gifts from each other.

This gift was just so funny and cute.  A couple weeks before Christmas, the kids went downstairs and wrapped a present for us for a really long time. ha!  They used A LOT of tape and a lot of little pieces of wrapping paper. They were so excited for us to open it on Christmas morning.  Inside were some little handwritten notes and a few of Jack's superhero guys.  haha!

Papa built Kate a bed for her American Girl doll.  It was too big to wrap, so we brought it in for her while the kids turned their backs.

Later that day, we went to Gran's for more family time, presents, and yummy food.

 It was a WONDERFUL day!!
