Christmas Eve 2011

Mark's grandpa passed away Christmas Eve morning. It was a sad, sad day for us. Especially Mark. We tried to keep things going for the sake of the kids, but there was a sadness that pretty much just hovered over the day.

We had a Christmas Eve pajama breakfast with friends. We ate, the kids watched Charlie Brown Christmas, they made reindeer food, and then they literally ran circles around the house. It was the absolute perfect thing to wear them out for nice naps later in the day.

Poor Jack fell out of Kate's bed that morning and had a big cut by his eye. He spent Christmas Eve with a big band-aid on all day.

Mark had to be up at church early, so after the kids' naps, we headed that way, dropped him off, and then went to Uncle Scott's house. I missed my handy dandy photographer husband that night. I never did get a good picture of the kids in their Christmas Eve outfits. Every picture I had of Jack was blurry because he never. stops. moving.

We ate yummy chili, visited with everyone (including my grandparents who were in town from Wyoming for Christmas this year), and exchanged presents. Mark went to be his family after church that night, so we were missing him.

Later that night, our little family gathered back at home. We set out cookies and elf donuts.

The kids went to sleep after a LONG day and Mark and I got to work on being Santa's helpers. Santa brought the kids a train table this year. A train table that took FOUR hours to put together!! It was a long, exhausting night. Lots and lots of coffee.

Stay tuned... Christmas Day tomorrow.
